The ocean is beautiful.
The warm sun caressing your skin. The sand between your toes. The sound of the waves crashing.
Whether you're relaxing by the beach, going for a quick swim, or whatever floats your boat (no pun intended), its beauty is undeniable.
But here's the thing. The ocean is beautiful...
...on the surface.
Strap on some scuba gear, and the fear of the unknown will slowly set in.
As you sink into what feels like a bottomless pit, you immediately feel out of place.
The pressure kicks in, squeezing every inch of your body. Each breath feels like a luxury. You look up at the surface, drifting further and further away, and in that moment, you question the competence of your decision-making skills.
But then, suddenly, something happens...
A universe of colors explodes around you!
You're surrounded by the plethora of unimaginable wildlife you would've never encountered if you stayed relaxing on the surface.
You see vibrant corals, ancient sea turtles, glowing jellyfish, and bioluminescent fish. You explore hidden underwater caves, forests of the sea, and sunken ships.
It's truly otherworldly.
In that moment, you realize the ocean's surface is beautiful, but under the ocean is magical.
This is the realization I've come to over the last few weeks about "knowledge" as a whole.
I've always been fascinated with the idea of learning how to code, but over the last few weeks, I've been coding for 10+ hours a day (yeah, me, sitting still, can you believe it?), and the deeper I go, the more I encounter new knowledge that's so novel it lights my brain up.
I'm thinking differently. I'm dreaming in code. I'm seeing the world through a unique lens.
It's like I've unlocked this secret chamber in my brain that I didn't even know existed...
Even though we encounter a ton of information daily, we usually appreciate it from a distance, only acknowledging what lies on the surface.
But I promise you that the deeper you go, the more magical the subject matter becomes.
I challenge you this week...
Pick something you're curious about and DIG DEEPER. Force yourself to learn more about it.
Learn something that's both "new" and "challenging".
Wrestle with the complexities and the things you don't understand.
Really push yourself.
Because the areas you find beautiful from afar are filled with more magic than you can ever imagine.
Stay creative,
Dwayne
